How indian media change the trend from #THANKYOUMODI to #GOHOMEINDIANMedia

Even today my mom reminds me of my stupid act when I was a child. She specially tells this story of my past when I lay my head on her lap in a comfortable posture and she playing with my hair. She says when I was almost 5 and half years old and my brother was just 2 years old, she prepared a dish my brother liked the most. She brought the dish in a big plastic bowl and went to the kitchen for some other works to do. At the time she returned back to us, my brother was crying and I was busy peeing on the bowl thinking that it’s a pooping pot of my brother. What happened after that was what everyone can imagine. My mom got angry with me but could not beat me up and my brother started crying.

I believe this story of my past perfectly matches with the current scenario of love and hate emotions going on between Nepali youths, PM Modi and Indian media. Of course Sir Modi Being my mom, Nepal being my little brother and me being the villain (Indian Media).

After the devastating earthquake hit Nepal on 25th April 2015 India was the first country to declare aid to Nepal.  To be true, nobody in Nepal has been fleet-footed and very helpful. India is leading search and rescue efforts with 704 personnel on the ground followed by 168 from China, 140 from Bangladesh and 120 form USA.

Nepal and specially youths of Nepal has always had hot and cold relation going on with India and Indian media for the past 15 to 20 years. India is often criticized in Nepal for being involved in government internal affairs. India is often criticized in Nepal for their claim that birthplace of Lord Buddha is India which is instead very false. India is often criticized in Nepal for stretching their territory illegally towards the boarder of Nepal. India is often criticized for acting as a big brother and treating Nepal as one of their own states.

To eradicate all those issues Sir Narendra Modi played it right from the day he became the prime minister of India. Sir Narendra Modi after being declared the prime minister of India gave his first priority to neighboring nations specially Bhutan and Nepal. Nepal was the second foreign country visit by PM Modi after Bhutan excluding the BRICS summit held in Brazil in mid of July 2014. His visit to Nepal was a very powerful move by PM with lots of homework done from his side on the issues faced by Nepalese for such a bitter relation with the neighboring country that is not only the closest neighbor in terms of Geographical location but also a closest neighbor in terms of ancient history , culture and religion.  Me myself not being such a great fan of India had some positive vibe going on inside my heart after his powerful , inspiring and to the point problem solving speech in the parliament of Nepal on 4th August 2014. After being the first country to declare Aid immediately after the earthquake in Nepal even some Nepalese fellows who hated India for the past couple of years starting thanking PM Modi all over social media. In a couple of hours the social media trend started to disclose #ThankYouPmModi as one of the top trends. To this trend PM Modi appreciated via tweeter stating real thanks should be given to our culture that says ‘SEVA PARAMO DHARMA’. He further tweeted thanks should be given to 125 crore Indians who made Nepali pain their own.

With his best efforts in this difficult time PM Modi was really very close to totally stop the fire of hatred going on in Nepalese mind about their closest neighbor India. But the entry of Indian media not only ruined all the efforts done by their prime minister but adds lots of fuel to the fire.

Over 7000 people already dead and more than 14000 people wounded,it’s a tough day going on in our country and every Nepalese citizen in or outside the country. There is sorrow, there is pain, there are tears and yes there is anger. The anger being on the nature itself, the anger being on the lack of leadership in the Nepalese leaders, the anger being on every ill behavior going on out there. The unprofessional and untrained Indian media became the victims of the anger this time. Though its not a physical attack, the disclosure of hate towards Indian media worldwide has been very shameful on the day of World Press Freedom Day for the Largest Democratic country on earth.

What made nepali force themselves to boycott Indian media from Nepal? People complained that the coverage had been insensitive and jingoistic, among other things.
"Your media and media personnel are acting like they are shooting some kind of family serials," wrote an anguished                          Sunita Shakya of Nepali origin in her blog."If your media person can reach to the places where the relief supplies have not reached, at this time of crisis can't they take a first-aid kit or some food supplies with them as well?"
Another ill behavioral question was asked by a guy to a mother whose only son was buried in a wreck “how do you feel??”.

There has been series of false images shown by Indian media claiming that those are from Nepal. A Nepali Army holding a child after a rescue operation in the Nepali army combat dress is claimed by Indian media as Indian army. Nepali army chief talking to the press is claimed by Indian media as Indian army chief. Breaking news like ‘’Nepal me Bharat ke Bhagwan’’ i.e. Nepal being rescued by a GOD from India. Times now reporter asks the injured woman did someone of yours die?? That too 6 times even after she said her 6 children are buried. An Indian person tweets “ I do not know how we tolerate our media. A country like Nepal could not tolerate them for just 6 days.”

ABP news claims the image of Vietnamese children as Nepali and creates an emotional story on the issue. Later on it was disclosed that too was the profile picture of one Nepali guy back in Nov 2013 which ABP news claims to be live from Nepal.

Shobhaa de in NDTV article expressed her personal opinion that  yes the Indian media should at least apologies. She further believes that this is because in India to be a media reporter you need to be a little over confidence in camera, there is no need to be a professional or a trained personnel. This is the perfect time for Indian media to invest in a constructive dialogue around self-regulation during calamities. Winning the TRP war is a petty triumph when what you lose is basic decency in the bargain, she further adds.

3rd president of USA – Thomas Jefferson once said ‘’ The man who reads nothing at all is better educated than the man who reads nothing but news papers’’. In the current scenario I have edited the quote like this, “ The man who reads nothing at all is better educated than the man who watches only India media channels’’

One of my Indian friends once joked , have you noticed  books available in every class  when you travel by train.
1AC-Business India, 2AC-Sidney Sheldon, 3AC-Chetan Bhagat,Osho. Sleeper class- Cricket Samrat, Manorma . General class- Bangal ka Jadu,Premika ka Badla.
Yes this is the fact. To put it into conclusion Indian media always keeps on claiming that the most powerful persons around the world including  Barack Obama is an Indian origin but again on the other hand they report their news as if all of their viewers are the ones who have the same taste as the people who travel in General class in Indian railways. Their news story, the way of their presentation and all the bullshits definitely drives us to reach to this bitter conclusion.

Dear Indian media when Indian army extends their feet towards Nepali border it hurts us the same way it hurts you guys when the Chinese Army extend their feet towards Indian boarder. It hurts us the same when you show your big brother attitude without caring our feeling the way it hurts you when the American media and its administration shows the big brother attitude        towards you and your people.

Dear Indian media, we are weak now but we have hopes and dreams to rise back up strongly. These are really very tough days for every Nepali people living in India or outside India. Even Times of India a renowned media from India said the efforts to serve the victims of Nepal has been very great but you do  not have to crow it. Do help us from your heart, bcoz we need it now but plz do not hurt our Pride , please do not try to kick our respect and please do not make fun of our motherland because we are are a Respected Independent citizens of an Independent country like yours. thank you
